Hiatus
It’s been a while since I’ve posted a blog or even checked my messages. I’ve not been on my computer much at all recently as I’ve been going through some shit at work. Mostly, busting my ass and gobbling up as much overtime as I can. The costs of conferences are beginning to catch up with me and if I want to keep attending them, I’ve got to make the money to do it. My royalties aren’t enough to pay for my almost ten grand a year of author expenses. As a result, my author duties must suffer.
When I do have time to write, I’m working on my fiction. I honestly can’t see any time in the immediate future when I’ll be able to resume regular blogs. I’m still reading books and jotting notes for reviews. It’s likely I’ll hoard them until next summer when I hope to attend ThrillerFest as I have the last three years. “Hope to” being the key words there. Early ticket sales ended over two weeks ago and I didn’t buy mine. It remains to be seen if I’ll be able to afford to attend. I have enough points for a free flight. I will have enough points for three free nights at the Grand Hyatt, plus I get a free night from my credit card. But, I still have to come up with about a grand for my conference ticket, plus another grand for my other three nights there. And I’m going to have to work my ass off to get there.
I suppose what I’m trying to get at is that I’ll continue taking a long break from blogging. I don’t know when it’ll end. Only time will tell. If you like my writing, buy my books. Give them as gifts. Review them so that others can get an idea if they want to buy them, too. The more money I make from my writing (as little as 40 cents per book sold, depending on the vendor) the more I can afford to write. If you want to help me get as much of my royalties as possible, cut out the middleman and buy my books right from my publisher, Black Opal Books.
